What this product sells
The Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat publishes the Directory of
Federal Real Property (DFRP) as a daily-refreshed bulk XML dump. It
lists every property the federal government owns or leases —
buildings, land parcels, military installations, parks structures,
research labs, RCMP detachments, immigration offices — with custodian
department, address, primary use, tenure (Crown-owned vs leased),
building area, and year constructed.
This product extracts every record in the Calgary CMA (Calgary,
Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, High River, Strathmore plus
the Banff/Canmore mountain corridor) and ships a clean Excel with
custodian, address, building age, primary use, and tenure.
Who buys it
- Mechanical / electrical / fire-safety contractors targeting federal
O&M IDIQs (PSPC, DND, RCMP, Parks Canada, CRA, CBSA buildings)
- Janitorial, security-guard, snow-removal, landscaping vendors
bidding standing offers against federal real estate
- HVAC / refrigeration / plumbing / glazing contractors (Crown-owned
buildings carry their own capital-renewal budgets)
- Roofing + envelope specialists (federal buildings have a higher
average age than the private commercial stock)
- Commercial real estate brokers (Tenure = Leased rows reveal the
federal portfolio's private landlords — those landlords are buyers
for tenant-improvement, facility-management, and asset-management
services)
- Energy retrofit and decarbonization consultants (federal Greening
Government Strategy mandates net-zero by 2050 — every Crown-owned
record on this list is a candidate)
- Bid-writing / federal proposal consultants
Honest framing
This is a STATIC INVENTORY refreshed daily by Treasury Board. It is
NOT a procurement / tender feed. Use it as a TAM and account-mapping
deliverable — "here is every federal building in our service area
and which department's procurement office to call about it."
Tenure column is the most important slice:
- Crown-Owned: the federal custodian dept is the buyer for capital
renewal, O&M, HVAC, electrical, fire-safety, security, cleaning.
- Leased: the private building owner / landlord is the buyer for
those services; the custodian only buys tenant-side services
(IT, janitorial inside the federal footprint, security guards).
The Custodian column tells you which department's procurement office
to target — DND, PSPC, RCMP, Parks Canada, etc. each have their own
standing-offer programs.
